Two Cities with a Strong Character

Two Cities with a Strong Character

Norddeich is especially known as ferry dock for all travellers to the islands Norderney & Juist. However, Norddeich is also known as unhurried holiday resort for all holidaymakers. Families can have fun here, along with couples who are looking for relaxation from everyday working life with plenty of time for two.

One name with a hyphen and yet two different places: Norden and Norddeich. Brick buildings characterise both places. While Norden is considered the oldest town in East Frisia, Norddeich is one of the youngest. Norden was first mentioned in 1255, whereas Norddeich only appeared in the history books in 1803.

Walks through both places reveal the different characters: One is Frisian-medieval and the other fresh and modern. Both of them are unhurried and natural. Plan visits to the exciting museums and mills as well as the enchanting castles and parks in the area to round off your holiday. Visit the tea museum, for example, and discover what connects us East Frisians and the delicious infusion, how it is enjoyed and why we love it.

At the Hotel Fährhaus, we are happy to answer any questions regarding excursion destinations, the surrounding area and much more.
